PERSONAL NARRATIVE
Reily Joel Calderón Rivera, a Latino and queer Puerto Rican man, was born on February 22, 1995 in Caguas, in the U.S. colony of Puerto Rico. Part of his life took place in the town of Cidra, located in the mountainous interior of the caribbean island. In 2012 he graduated with the concentration of Architectural Drawing from the Cidra Vocational High School and in the same year he was accepted into the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, located in the capital city, San Juan. In 2017 he obtained his bachelor's degree in Environmental Design granted by the School of Architecture and a certification of Studies on Women and Gender offered by the Faculty of General Studies of the same Campus. In 2020 he completed his graduate studies in Architecture at the same institution. As part of his training, he had the opportunity to prepare himself as a future architect and take courses related to the social constructions of the body, gender and performative manifestations. Finally he obtained his Architect License in 2023 after passing all six divisions of the Architect Registration Examination.
